অনেক সময় কাঠের জিনিস মুছতে গিয়ে তাতে আঁচড়ের দাগ পড়ে যায়। এই দাগ তুলতে সামান্য বেকিং সোডার সঙ্গে পানি মিশিয়ে নিয়ে তাতে একটি নরম কাপড় ভিজিয়ে দাগের জায়গাটি মুছে নিন। সিগারেটের ছাই পড়ে দাগ হলে স্ক্র্যাচ কনসিলিং পলিশ ব্যবহার করুন। গরম জিনিস রাখার ফলে কাঠের টেবিলে অনেক সময় সাদা সাদা ‘হিট স্টেইন’ পড়ে যায়। এই সাদা দাগের ওপর টুথপেস্ট ও বেকিং সোডা মিশিয়ে হালকা ঘষে লাগিয়ে রাখুন। কিছুক্ষণ পর তুলে ফেলুন। এভাবে কয়েকবার মিশ্রণটি ব্যবহার করলে সাদা দাগ অনেকখানি কমে যাবে।
কাঠের আসবাবে মসৃণ ও চকচকে ভাবটা ধরে রাখতে অলিভ অয়েল ও লেবুর রসের মিশ্রণ তৈরি করুন। এই মিশ্রণ দিয়ে সপ্তাহে একবার আসবাবপত্র মুছুন। এতে কাঠের চকচকে ভাব থাকবে। আসবাব পরিষ্কার করার সময় অবশ্যই হাতে রাবার গ্লাভস ব্যবহার করুন।
